May 30, 2007- Back at the 'Rents' place Alex had dropped my off in his silver Volvo. I didn't drive to school; I had sold my own Ford Taurus for money because it was a gas hog anyway. My mother didn't quite understand my reasons.
"Why are you selling it? Don't you drive it?" "No mom, Alex takes me everywhere." "What about work?" "Mom, we both work at the same place, only he usually stays up front to answer phones." "Oh, right. Okay but what if you two break..." I was doing dishes in the kitchen at the time with her directly behind me so i was able to spin around fast enough to prevent that sentence from being finished. But of course i wasn't able to put my hand over her mouth like i had wished mainly because of my balance problem so i tripped instead and she had to catch me. "Don't say that." My expression |

May 30, 2007 (Lunchtime) "So what's the big news?" My sister Ashley stood across from me in our usual circle glancing around barely realizing that she was addressing me. "Well, since you asked. Alex, if you please." I leaned back to provide him more room. He slowly reached into his back pocket, lifted his arm, and then bam, held the tickets out for everyone to see. "Ta freaken Da!!!!!!!!" Silent pause. I looked at everyone to see looks of shock and amazement but they all seemed to have forgotten we were even there. All of our friends, including Alix (the girl) seemed to be stuck in a trance, watching something. Alex and I glanced at each other then in the direction where everyone's heads were turned. As my gaze fell upon what apparantly was more important then our concert tickets, I felt myself roll my eyes. "Oh brother. Not again." My sister had discovered |

"Can't this thing go any faster?!" "Alex, if we go faster, we'll lift off. Just chill we'll get there in time." I kept my eyes on the road as I reassured Alex that nothing could make us late for the greatest concert ever. Wait, wait, wait; I'm getting ahead of myself here. Let's start from the beginning. May 30, 2007 (a.k.a- the last day of skool. hellz yeah!) I paced back and forth in front of my Algebra 2 class in eager anticipation. Every so often I looked up to see Mr. Harvey or Mr. Petticrew glance out from their classroom windows to check on me. I was 16, why the hell did I need babysitters?! I took a deep breath and leaned against the wall. 'Any second now' I thought to myself while trying to calm my nerves. I heard the door behind me open and I spun around so fast I had |

The rest of breakfast passed with polite conversation and small talk, then ended quickly. Okay so that's how I would have liked it to happen but no. No, thanks to my parents I'll be lucky if any guy will ever come to my house again. My dad did the usual dad thing of asking, "And how old are you?", "You had how many girlfriends?", and my personal favorite, "You really think music is a good profession?" Why do parents have to be so meddling? "Well actually, Mr. Dallas, the music industry is one of the top growing industries in the world." "Really? I did not know that. Did you know that dear?" My mom was terrible at trying to keep the peace. "No. Even so, exactly how long do you expect to be in the 'music industry'?" My dad being the high-class, lawyer, business man that he was thought anything that wasn't involved |

"I should probably go to the kitchen." Adam looked at me with a hopeful glint in his eye that normally would have made me dismiss this action and tell him to stay but considering the circumstances my morals got the better of me. "Okay. I'll see you in there then." As he closed the door behind him I laid back on my bed, closed my eyes, and faded away into utter happiness. Standing on a rooftop, everybody scream your heart out! "AHHHHHHHHHH! Oh My God! Jools you will never guess what happened!" "Justin Calvin called you, asked you out, and you're now officially a couple? Oh my god! This is huge!" "What? NO! Jools, guess who was in my room when I woke up?" "Oh my god! What did you do last night?" "Juliet! Will you listen for pete's sake!" "What?!" "I just thought you should know that this morning I woke up to find the love of my life |

"I'm listening." I glanced at Adam and felt a rush of emotions. Feelings I had never felt before. "I didn't have to ask your mom what your name was. I already knew it." He paused for a moment waiting for my response but none came. How do you answer something like that? "So, you're a really good soccer player huh?" "Um, yeah. I used to be. I love soccer. I love running. It's the ultimate high." "That last quarter was intense. I was on the edge of my seat." "What?" "Shane, I know who you are because I follow your game." Of course, State Competitions are televised and last year we went to Nationals. "So, you're a fan? Wow, do I feel special!" He turned back around and faced me. A smile spread across his face as he knelt down on my bed. "I think I should feel special. My favorite soccer star actually being my fan, now |

Friday morning I awoke suddenly to what I thought was my legs trying to keep the blood flow through them. I stretched them to the best of my ability and as I rolled over on my side I heard a strange sound. It was a hum. Someone was in my room, sitting in the chair right next to my bed, humming. I carefully turned my head in that direction and stared at the shadowy figure. A man's voice spoke out through the darkness. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I wake you?" I knew that voice but couldn't for the life of me put a face to it. "I'll try to be a little quieter next time." He rose from his seat and I watched him as he walked around to the other side of my bed. "Who are you? What do you want? I'll scream. I swear I will!" "Calm down. It's okay. You |

"Good afternoon, Shane" "Oh, hey Leon." I glanced up at him with the most obvious confused look on my face that even Daisy Stanson, the blondest girl in school, could have noticed it. "I was just passing by when you fell into my gaze and, being the kind-hearted person that I am," he paused for a most unnecessary dramatic effect, "decided to come over and engage you in a conversation concerning your state of health." "Um, that's thoughtful, but really, you don't have to, umm, worry about me." "You! You! I take precious minutes out of my day to come over here to talk and you make the conversation completely about yourself. How more rude can you possibly get? You know, Shane, I used to think you were such a sweet girl but now that I've seen the real you, I just don't see our friendship lasting any longer. I'm quite sorry, but it's over." And at |

That night, i hardly slept. My mind was racing with thoughts of what the next 3 weeks would bring. I knew that everyone at school would ask questions which didn't really bother me, What got to me was what they would do once they learned the truth. There would be no name calling, no muttered whispers, or even awkward pointing; no that i could have dealt with. No what they would do would be much worse. They would tell me how sorry they were and offer me nothing but sympathy, which is quite possibly the very last thing that I wanted in this world. I didn't want sympathy because I knew excepting that would be admitting defeat and that was something I was not willing to do. Then a dreadful thought crept into my mind. What if Justin wouldn't want to go to the dance with me anymore? What if |
